Zagreb Publishing Fellowship 2025 will be organised by Ibis grafika, and up to 7 foreign publishers, and 2 scouts scouts will be invited to participate in the programme based on open applications, and 2 agents will be invited directly by the organiser. Full or partial support will be provided for all invited fellows – 3 nights accommodation in a hotel in central Zagreb and up to €400 towards travel cost.

Eligibility criteria for application:

  • for publishers
    • your company is actively looking for new children’s and YA titles from different countries
    • you are interested in new partnerships on future EU projects
    • your role at the company includes editorial work and/or you are in charge of acquisition
    • publishers who have not participated in the fellowship before will be given priority
  • for scouts
    • you specialise in children’s literature, or have a significant section focused on children’s literature
    • you have a proven track reckord of bringing books from small, independent publishers onto a larger market

This fellowship is organised through support of two international literary translation projects: “Creating Worlds” and “Books on the Beach” which are co-funded by the European Commission.


The goal of the fellowship is a better positioning of literature written in less translated languages, creating new partnerships and presenting Croatian literature, artists and publishers to an international professional audience.


The program will take place from 12 to 14 May 2024, and the fellows will be required to atted the programme all three days. The selection of fellows will be based on their compatibility with the goal of the fellowship, and the eligibility criteria listed above. The applications for the fellowship will open in late January 2025.
